Breathing and my golf swing

There are many modern sport applications of special breathing techniques, one of these is the sport of golfing. Pete's story, told below, is not exception, the results he was able to attain is a typical of the benefits reported by those who practice the Taoist breath exercises taught at Hsing Chen:

I've been a golfer for twenty years and I had a problem that I'm sure that many golfers can relate to. I had problems with consistency and confidence in my playing. Over the last six months I studied body connection and Taoist breathing that I was taught by John. The first thing I noticed from the breath training was that they helped a lot with stress. However, I was surprised that they also helped me improve my golf.

The breathing techniques seemed to help me become more connected, and brought a lightness to my playing which helped me to let go and enjoy the game-even when I hit badly. The breathing exercises taught me to become more aware of my body in new ways. It seems that these exercises allow me to be able to discover what I did wrong in a swing. The combination of "standing training" and breath training helped me become more aware of the course and the trees; thus, for me, the game of golf became a whole new game-it is now a lot more than just a game of golf. For me, breath training increases awareness, allows me to relax under stress, and because of the associated mental clarity, for some reason they help me understand the dynamics of the swing. Previously when I hit a swing I did know what I did wrong. Over the last four months of adding breathing exercises to my golf, my handicap changed from 28 to consistent 20.
