Hsing Chen instructors offer three types of chi kung (qigong) training [why are there two different spellings?] These are: structure and posture training (dao yin/ Taoist yoga), Taoist breath training, and energy sensitivity training.
In training, particularly when involving pain and rehabilitation issues, these three methods are often combined. Other applications of chi kung training we teach include teaching competitive fighters to develop a stronger punch, to self-healing, to spiritual practice. We do not offer the "non contact energy healing method" known in Chinese as wai chi or waiqi. [READ WHY]
STEPS FOR THE PROSPECTIVE CHI KUNG STUDENT
1. Be clear about why you want to study. Do you want to learn chi kung (qi gong) to heal or rehabilitate (please consult with your health care practitioner first!), or for martial art training, or as a general or spiritual practice?
2. Decide if group or private training is better suited to your goals and pocket book. Group classes are around $85 per month and private training runs between $75 to $140 for a 45 minute private training session.
3. Attend a group classes: Most of our classes include a chi kung component, however, (if you are in southern California) the Saturday morning Tai Chi class or the Sunday morning Ba Gua class are especially valuable to get a feeling about how you like our approach to training. [GO TO CLASS SCHEDULE] (Also, we regularly offer special seminars in Taoist meditation, healing arts, etc.)
If you are a medical, pain or rehabilitation patient, you should get permission from your health care practitioner before practice chi kung. (Note: Master John Bracy has extensive experience in the use of chi kung as an adjunct treatment for pain and rehabilitation. Ask your physician if John should call and discuss your specific needs)
4. For private training, arrange a meeting place with the instructor you choose.
